For so many years, I can hardly remember what I did on my birthday. I never seriously expect anybody to remember it although there are still some greeting messages on Facebook since I guess it pop up on their calendar. I don’t look forward to having people celebrate with me. I just wish to have some quiet time alone and do something memorable so that I can recall it when I grow old.
The trip to attend the Dalai Lama’s teaching in India is coincidentally close to my birthday and I thought why not I just extend my stay a few more days. It is to be in different countries for every of my birthday from now onward.
Knowing that I am in India, the next question is where to. I thought of going to Chandratal Lake but it doesn’t fit into the plan. And with winter approaching, I am not so sure if the route through Rohtang Pass is still accessible. After considering few possible options, I decided on Bodhgaya.
Bodhgaya is the place where Buddha attained enlightenment. It holds special significance and is going to be meaningful for me to start my “birthday travel dream”.
I am now writing this on the overnight train heading to Bodhgaya. It will reach in less than 12 hours, I am so looking forward to it!
