Jiufen, a small town founded during the Qing Dynasty, about less than 2 hours journey from the heart of Taipei.  It is currently one of the most popular spot for tourist and the locals due to its close proximity to Taipei and its cool weather.  The town came alive in the morning when the buses to tourist arrived and remaining crowded till sunset after most of the tourist has left.  There are many home stay cater for the free and easy traveler and the locals who love to stay there during the weekend.  I came to realize this when I arrive on a Friday evening and could hardly find a place to stay.  Eventually I found a single room but could only stay for a night as Saturday night are fully booked.   Many locals, especially young couples, arrive late on Friday night after work for their weekend trip.   The image below is one of the cafe located at the top of the mountain.  It is a good way to relax and enjoy the sunset and the view of the city with a cup of hot tea!
