The 4th largest city square in the world – Tiananmen Square of Beijing.  The Tiananmen gate is the entrance to the Forbidden city which was build in 1415 during the Ming Dynasty.

It is one of the public places with the tightest security you can find in Beijing.  Everyone has to go through security check, with all their items screened through x-ray machine.  There are many police patrolling the area and I was asked for my passport twice within less than an hour of stay.
